Drone Occitanie at the Draguignan Military Schools: A Day Dedicated to Advances in Drone Capabilities

  In light of the rapid evolution of modern conflicts and the now indispensable role of unmanned aerial systems, Drone Occitanie, the drone division of ELITE ADMIN – IT, had the honor of speaking at the Draguignan Military Academies (EMD) at the invitation of the Training Support Unit (UAF). This technical workshop brought together executives and drone pilots around a common goal: to better understand the technological, tactical, and operational developments in drone systems in order to support the professional development of specialists.

An Operational Approach to Drone Technologies

Throughout the day, our teams presented a wide range of solutions currently available on the market, highlighting their operational capabilities, limitations, and areas of application. Participants were able to attend: technical presentations on the various platforms; dynamic demonstrations of civilian and professional drones; discussions on recent innovations in the sector; insights drawn from the evolution of contemporary conflicts. The goal was to provide a concrete overview of the technologies currently available and their integration into a demanding operational environment.

Three main themes of the day

Technological Acculturation

Given the extremely rapid pace of hardware and software developments, it is essential for operators to maintain a high level of knowledge regarding new platforms, onboard sensors, and communication architectures.

Tactical RETEX

A significant portion of the discussions focused on lessons learned from recent conflicts, particularly regarding: the widespread use of drones; electronic warfare; the ongoing adaptation of operational doctrines; the constraints imposed by highly contested environments.

Maintenance in Operational Condition (MOC)

Beyond the deployment of drones, their availability is a major challenge. Discussions focused on: preventive maintenance methods; field repairs; spare parts management; and fleet resilience under adverse conditions. This expertise is now one of Drone Occitanie’s recognized areas of expertise; the company performs several hundred diagnostics and repairs on professional drones each year.
